gold coast art fairFrom the user's description: " The 2008 Gold Coast Art Fair returns to the heart of Chicago 676 N LaSalle Street, Chicago, Ill. Friday Aug. 8, 12 - 6 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 9 - Sunday, Aug. 10, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Throughout the three-day 51st Gold Coast Art Fair more than half a million visitors will stroll through nine city blocks in the heart of Chicago's chic cultural River North neighborhood to indulge their senses in magnificent fine and functional art by more than 350 professional artists from as near as the City and as far as Israel. In the spirit of all this walking there will be a distinctive display of custom designed shoes by festival artists, and visitors are encouraged to drop off gently worn shoes in one of the drop boxes for Soles4Souls, the recognized non profit organization facilitating donations of shoes worldwide. Visitors can watch artist Jonas Gerard paint to music and other artists demonstrate their unique talents, or listen to live music ranging from acoustic rock to smooth jazz, or relax with a wine and food tastings courtesy of Chef John Caputo’s and guest chef Ted Allen ("Queer Eye for Straight Guy") Blue Frog Restaurant. Kids can take a creative break in the art tent. Admission is free. Parking is available at adjacent lots though public transportation is recommended.
